Jacobus Vaet was al tien jaar kapelmeester aan het hof van de Habsburgse aartshertog Maximiliaan, toen deze in 1564 keizer van het Heilige roomse rijk werd. Drie jaar later zou Vaet al sterven, hij was nog maar 37 jaar oud; jammer want als Vaet langer had geleefd, zou hij waarschijnlijk één van de grootste polyfonisten van de 16de eeuw geworden zijn. It is high time that Vaet was given his due. Though he died young, he left a substantial quantity of music, spending more than ten years as Kapellmeister to the chapel of Maximilien II of Habsburg. .. I hope that in spite of the valuable context provided here, they have now paved the way for a recording that can be sold under the name of Vaet. (Ivan Moody)
