One particular fine recording is 'El Fuego, la Negrina y La justa' by the Huelgas Ensemble under the direction of Paul van Nevel. Taking as its point of reference a theoretically ideal version of the Ensaladas which, in our opinion, has yet to be achieved, Paul van Nevel's rendering is marred by a defective pronunciation of the Spanish language, a fault which no doubt would have been absent had the repertoire been in French or Italian.
